walk into the feedback conversation steadier, and hand people their results without reducing them to a score.

About this course

Every counselor who uses assessments eventually faces the moment: the printout says one thing, the person in the chair is clearly another, and you have a few seconds to decide which one you trust. Get it wrong and you hand someone a verdict about themselves that does not fit. Get it right and the same test becomes the doorway to the most honest conversation you have had with that client.

This short course sits in on exactly that moment. A clinician walks a client through the results of a personality questionnaire, and models a skill that assessment textbooks describe but rarely show: how to give test feedback as a conversation rather than a diagnosis. You watch him name a finding that does not fit and correct it with the client’s help, check a serious “persecution” flag directly and without alarm, and hold the whole profile loosely enough that the truth of the person can push back. Underneath the technique is a single conviction he says out loud, that the test “is not an x-ray machine,” and a way of seeing the client as a whole person whose dignity the assessment exists to serve.
